The Western Sydney University Project Scholarships are PhD projects offered and supervised by professors at several departments of the WSU Graduate Research School.

The project scholarships cut across several disciplines, including Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Social Science, Humanities, Medicine, and Arts.

To be considered for the Western Sydney University Scholarship 2026, you must:

• be motivated domestic and international PhD candidate

• Hold qualifications and experience equal to one of the following:

  • an Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degree,

• coursework Masters with at least 25% research component,

• Research Masters degree, or

• equivalent overseas qualifications.

The benefits of the Western Sydney University Scholarships include;

• Tuition-fee coverage (supported by the Research Training Program (RTP)).

• Annual living stipend between $35,188 to $42,440 for a period of 3 years.

• Exceptional candidates will get up to $5000 in additional scholarships per annum.

• International students are eligible for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) insurance.

  Contact the supervisor or Lead Researcher in charge with your documents.

  Your supervisor helps you secure funding and placement for the full duration of the program at the Western Sydney University.

  If successful, you will then proceed to apply for admission for the program your project falls under.

  Can I apply for more than one scholarship at a time?

You can only create one application at a time in the application portal. You should apply based on your first preference of project and supervisor.

However, you may be considered for multiple opportunities at the discretion of the relevant School/Institute.

To apply for multiple project scholarships, please attach a cover letter identifying the project scholarships in order of your preferences to your application. You will also need to attach a letter of support from the Lead Researcher for each project scholarship.

If your application is unsuccessful you can submit a new application for a different scholarship.
